Dublin is certainly a large, busier, and more diversified place than Galway. And what a party town. Of course yesterday was Friday and today is Saturday. But as we were walking home tonight from the Temple Bar area, we had more than one walking proof that girls shouldn't drink, wear high heels, and try to walk on cobblestones. O_o That's a combination that's definitely hazardous to your health.
After a late breakfast we headed to the Marsh library again, so we could go inside. They change out their exhibits every few months, and right now they're reviewing medical books. These were books from the 1600s and were fascinating. There was a book that talked about soul as being part of the human body and there was another book that was still debating whether or not babies came from eggs found inside some females. There was a woman physician there answering questions, and she said that hundreds of years ago they thought it all came from men and females only incubated the babies.
Our next stop was Dublinia, which is what Dublin was once called back when the Vikings settled there.

| You should have heard all the sound effects that went with the outhouse display. |
 |
| Never realized how true "Bring out your dead" from Monty Python and the Holy Grail was. |
 |
| After the Viking section was a Medieval section and finally an archeological section. It was geared toward children and interactive. They show the above find and pose the following question: |

| This just made me smile. Of course we should have known that item came from the Viking age because it was fashionable! |
 |
| We lucked out and came across a Viking in costume at the guest shop. (Check out the reflections on Arlene's shoes. The reflective tape caught the light from the flash, and it looks like her butt is on fire). |
From Dublinia we went across the street and did the tour of Christ Church, which is right across from the hotel.

Surely this was a perfect opportunity for someone with a sense of humor to sneak in a funny offering for the Coffee Shop.
We came back to the hotel for a short rest and then went out looking for dinner. We ended up at a place with some yummy food, and I finally got to try Coddle. It was good. Arlene wanted to do a little souvenir shopping, since tomorrow's Sunday and we stopped at a shop in Temple Bar. The entire area was very lively.
Now I'm ready for bed. |
